Not a catalogue of rooms - a way of choosing between them. Three questions that settle it, a table you can match your trip against, and the mistakes that turn a good room into the wrong one.
Most room pages answer the wrong question. They tell you what each room contains, when what you actually want to know is which one is right for the specific trip you are about to take. A 780 sq ft suite is the wrong room for a Tuesday night before a 7am flight. A 320 sq ft room is the wrong room for five days with two children and a grandmother. The room is not better or worse. It is matched or unmatched.
Choose an ORNATE room by trip length and party shape, not by size. One or two nights alone: Regal Triple, 320 sq ft. A couple, or a longer solo stay: Premium, 520 sq ft, with a separate living area. Children or grandparents travelling with you: Family Premium, 640 sq ft, two bedrooms. Hosting, celebrating or staying a week: Maharaja, 780 sq ft.
Match your trip to a room
Find the row that looks most like your trip. The full detail on each category - images, features, enquiry - is on the rooms and suites page, and the category-by-category comparison is in the room that chose you. This is only the decision.
| Your trip | The room | Size | Why this one |
|---|---|---|---|
| One or two nights, travelling alone or as a pair, mostly out of the room | Regal Triple | 320 sq ft | King bed, rain shower, smart climate control. Everything a short stay uses and nothing it does not |
| A couple, three nights or more, or a solo trip with work in it | Premium Room | 520 sq ft | A separate living area and a soaking tub. Somewhere to sit that is not the bed |
| Travelling with children, or with parents and grandparents | Family Premium Room | 640 sq ft | Two bedrooms and extra bedding, so an early sleeper and a late one can share a room block |
| Hosting a celebration, or a stay that runs a week | Maharaja Room | 780 sq ft | Panoramic views, a private dining nook, a walk-in wardrobe and a butler on request |
| In Lucknow for SGPGI or Medanta - five and seven minutes away | Premium Room | 520 sq ft | Medical trips run long and unpredictable; the living area is where the waiting happens |
| A guest at a wedding on the property, two to three nights | Premium Room | 520 sq ft | Comfortable for the in-between hours, which is most of a wedding weekend |
The mistakes people actually make
There are only about five, and they repeat.
- Booking for headcount instead of for schedule. Four people who all sleep at eleven fit anywhere. Four people who sleep at nine, eleven and one need two bedrooms
- Booking the largest room for a one-night stay. You will be in it for nine hours, seven of them unconscious
- Booking too small for a long stay. Nights three to six are when a room with nowhere to sit starts to feel like a corridor
- Putting grandparents far from the lift. Square footage is irrelevant if the walk to it is the problem
- Putting the couple's suite next to the functions during a wedding. Book it away from the noise, deliberately
If you are booking more than one room
The logic changes as soon as you are booking for a group. You are no longer choosing a room, you are allocating a block across people with different needs, and the constraint is availability rather than preference. There are 54 rooms across the four categories, and blocks are held against a confirmed event date.
- Block early and block generously. Releasing rooms is trivial; adding them in the final fortnight is not
- Ask for the release date in writing - the day unclaimed rooms return to general availability decides where late confirmations sleep
- Allocate by need before you allocate by seniority: mobility and lift access first, then everything else
- Give one person the rooming list. Two people editing a rooming list is how a family ends up with a spare room and someone in the lobby
The full mechanics of group blocks - who goes where, when the block releases, how a travelling family is distributed - are set out in where to stay when the whole family travels.
The right room is not the biggest one you can justify. It is the one you stop noticing by the second night.
Before you confirm
A short list, worth running through on the call rather than discovering later. Reservations are on +91 92199 04134, or reservations@theornate.in.
- Arrival time against the 2:00 PM check-in - a morning flight lands well before the room does, and early check-in is on request
- Complimentary airport transfers, which run to and from Chaudhary Charan Singh International Airport, roughly twelve minutes away
- Extra bedding, if the party has grown since you first counted it
- Floor and lift proximity for anyone who needs it, requested at booking rather than at the desk
- Whether your dates overlap an event on the property, which is worth knowing either way
For where the property actually sits in the city, and how long everything really takes by road, see twelve minutes from the airport.
Frequently asked questions
Which room should I book for a family with children?
The Family Premium Room at 640 sq ft. It has two bedrooms and extra bedding, which matters less for space than for schedule - children who sleep early and adults who do not can share one booking without either compromising.
What is the best room for a one-night business trip?
The Regal Triple at 320 sq ft - king bed, rain shower and smart climate control. For a stay of three nights or more with work in it, the 520 sq ft Premium Room adds a separate living area that earns its keep.
What are the check-in and check-out times?
Check-in is 2:00 PM and check-out is 12:00 PM. Early check-in and late check-out are available on request, subject to availability, and are best arranged in advance rather than on arrival.
How many rooms does Ornate Lucknow have?
54 rooms across four categories: Maharaja (780 sq ft), Family Premium (640 sq ft, two bedrooms), Premium (520 sq ft) and Regal Triple (320 sq ft).
Is Ornate convenient for SGPGI or Medanta?
Yes. SGPGI is about five minutes away and Medanta about seven. For medical trips, which tend to run long and unpredictably, the Premium Room's separate living area is usually the better choice.
